Castlemaine

Future Energy has worked with the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group (MASG) since 2008 to progress the development of a wind farm near Castlemaine.  

The proposed site is located in the Mount Alexander Shire, approximately 120 km north west of Melbourne. Under the revised Planning Guidelines for wind farms announced by Planning Minister Matthew Guy in February 2011, no wind farms are permitted in the Mount Alexander area and hence the proposed site is no longer feasible.

MASG is currently seeking changes to the Planning Guidelines such that a wind farm project in their area can be developed.
