Landowners have the opportunity to participate in communities producing their own green energy by hosting community owned wind turbine generators.

Landowners receive an annual payment for leasing small parts of their land. The payment is usually a fixed amount indexed to CPI.

Viable land should be in a consistently windy area. A hill which is exposed to the prevailing winds will increase the energy resource.

Generally, an accessible 22 kV power line within 2 kms of the site is required. Neighbouring houses should be approximately 800 m or more from the planned position of the wind turbine.
